The Transport Innovation Fund (TIF) information exercise goes live this week and aims to highlight the facts about the transport investment and the congestion charge prior to the public vote.
Well loved BBC personality Martin Henfield is the front man for the GMPTE advertisements being used to highlight the upcoming vote and the congestion charging facts. The adverts will be aired for the first time on Granada at 21:15 tonight (THR) during the Tonight with Trevor McDonald ad break and on Channel M.
As a TV and radio presenter with 26 years experience, Martin’s association for Greater Manchester began at the BBC for Radio Manchester and then for BBC North West Tonight in the 1990’s.
In addition to the Television slots the information will be disseminated by online banners, pocket sized leaflets at transport hotspots and shopping centres, newspaper wraps and a brochure to every household and every business in Greater Manchester.
David Leather, Interim Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Public Transport Executive said:
“The information we are providing via television, local newspapers, websites and through letterboxes will hopefully clarify the transport proposals and congestion charging scheme for people across Greater Manchester. It highlights the facts on the transport improvements in their area as well as the details of the congestion charge boundaries and makes interesting reading prior to the all important vote.”
This is the final round of information prior to the impending referendum. Ballots start to land from the 24th November and the deadline for votes is on 11th December.
