
Our plans are driven by the need to make sure Greater Manchester’s economy can continue to grow and generate up to 210,000 new jobs.
Transport already accounts for over a quarter of climate change gas emissions in Greater Manchester, and economic growth could mean even more. With an improved public transport fleet, and through providing drivers with alternatives to car use, our plans have the potential to break the link between economic growth and increasing CO2 in transport.
Through TIF, more trams – now powered by carbon-free hydro-electricity – would run to more areas. Extra carriages on trains would carry more people. More cycle lanes would also be developed.
